The Chihuahua has many theories on the origin of this breed. It was originated in Mexico as most say, however some believe that Spaniards bred them and sent them to Mexico. And that's the most that's really known on their origin. They come in many colors, sizes, coat lengths. The height is usally 6-10 inches, but can get to 12-15 inches. A Chihuahua must not weigh more than 6 pounds for American breed standards for confirmation. Tea cup Chihuahuas are just Chihuahuas that weigh 2-4 pounds and can get more health issues and can get hurt easierly. Chihuahuas are the smallest breed of dog and the only dog to have a mallera or soft spot on the crown of its head. They are (unexpectedly to some) aggressive, and willing to bite.

For a long time, it was thought the Chihuahua was the world's smallest dog, although according to recent discoveries, the Russkiy Toy is the world's smallest breed.

The temperament of the owner can effect the temperament of the puppy. Ill tempered Chihuahuas have a higher chance of attacking though most will only do so if threatened. They do not always get along with other breeds. They can be overprotective and loyal to their owner. They usually grow closest to one or two people. They are one of heathiest breeds and usually live to be between 12 to 15 years.

AppearanceEdit

Chihuahuas can be white, black, burnt sienna, tan, cream or gray. Their fur can be short, long, smooth or rough. 

In popular culture Edit

Chihuahuas are, according to the AKC, the 30th most popular dog breed, and the picking on its small size is often. As such, they have appeared normally in dog-oriented films.
