The Newfoundland is a dog originating from Canada. They are known for their long, shaggy coats and large quantity of slobber. They are one of the biggest breeds, having the potential to weigh up to 200 pounds. Newfoundlands are not as active as other dogs and typically like lounging around or short play sessions. They can get along with other pets and children, although this varies depending on their personalities and/or training.

Life-span and healthEdit

Because of their big size, Newfoundlands have a short life expectancy (approximately 7-9 years). They may develop hip dysplasia over the course of their life and they attract lots of bugs. Their heavy coat of fur makes it difficult to spot ticks and other pests on their body and they may occasionally develop rashes, causing areas to become infected and requiring that area to be shaved.
